Student Device Agreement

It is the student's responsibility to make sure he/she has a fully operational Chromebook/iPad while at school. The district has a limited supply of loaner devices to use, sparingly, when needed. All 1:1 learning device practices and procedures remain in effect for loaner devices.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply, at all times, with the Student Use of Electronic Devices and District Issued Technology as described in the Student Handbook. Bring Chromebook or iPad fully charged to school every day.
- Keep device clean, treat with care, and never leave it in an unsecured location.
(Theft from an unlocked vehicle or unsecured area is not insured by the District.) - Keep their device in the provided protective case when not in use.
- Assume sole responsibility for any apps or extensions not installed by a member of the District 92 technology staff.
- Promptly report any problems with their device to the Technology Department.
- Not attempt to install any operating system on the device.
- Not remove or deface the serial number and other identification tags.
- Not attempt to remove or change the physical structure of the device.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Students are responsible for the general care of their device. Recommended precautions:
- Treat your Chromebook/iPad as you would any valuable electronic device.
- When not being used, store the device in a secure place, out of sight.
- Be gentle with the keyboard, trackpad, and ports.
- When using a Chromebook, do not pick it up by the screen.
- Do not place anything (i.e. pen, pencil, paper with staples) between screen and keyboard.
- Devices must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, and labels.
- Don’t eat or drink near the device.
- Avoid extreme heat or cold.
- Do not lend your device to anyone.
- Report any damage to your teacher immediately.
- Heavy objects should never be placed on top of devices.
USAGE & ACCESS
- The Chromebook/iPad 1:1 Learning device is the property of District 92.
- District 92 has the right to collect, inspect and/or alter the device at any time.
- Students may not use a personal computing device in lieu of the district-provided device.
- Users have no rights, ownership, or expectations of privacy to any data stored on the device or network.
- Student data is maintained via COPPA guidelines.
- District 92 is not responsible for data loss.
DISTRICT 92 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a Chromebook or iPad for each student, including a loaner if a device needs repairs.
- Provide filtered Internet access on the device.
- Provide Google Apps for Education and other educational applications that support learning.

PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT
I have read and understand the Will County SD 92 Student Device Agreement. I accept responsibility and give permission for my child to use the technology, including Google Core Services and YouTube.
STUDENT AGREEMENT
I have read (or had explained to me) and understand the agreement. I accept responsibility for abiding by these terms for educational purposes.
