Emergency Preparedness

Keeping our Bulldogs Safe. Communicating with our Community.

D92 is committed to creating a safe and supporting learning environment for all students and staff. While we always hope to avoid emergencies, the district has plans and processes in place to address situations and communicate appropriately.

In an emergency, families and staff in Will County School District 92 can expect that the district will:

Prioritize timely communication with accurate information.
Our top priority is student, staff, and visitor safety and we will always deal with the situation first. We work closely with emergency responders and will gather the information necessary to connect with families and staff as quickly as possible.

Provide as much detail as possible while always respecting privacy and investigations.
D92 will share as much information as possible, but may not be able to share all details due to ongoing investigations or privacy issues.

Use appropriate communication channels.
For a smaller issue, the district will utilize ParentSquare messages, emails, text messages, or phone calls to impacted parties. In the case of emergencies requiring a larger and more immediate response, the district will use appropriate channels which could include email, text messages, website updates, voice calls or messages, or posts on social media channels.

Continue to partner with emergency responders and law enforcement.
We have developed close partnerships with first responders. There are times when these officials will be in our buildings that are not an emergency including coordinating safety drills or doing class presentations. If you see emergency responders in our schools, please do not jump to conclusions and know that we will communicate if there is an issue.

You can help!

The D92 community can be a part of our efforts to support student safety and wellbeing.

  • Patience is Key- When unexpected emergencies take place, it takes time to verify and coordinate information. Your patience is an essential component of ensuring processes are completed as needed.
  • Trust but Verify - If you have questions about something you have observed, please contact the school or district office directly. We aim for transparency and connection!
  • Stay Clear - During an emergency, please do not go to a school building or interfere with the investigation or situation until instructed.
  • By working together and following established protocols and procedures, we can create a safe and supportive environment for our Bulldogs to learn and grow!

D92 is excited to be joining schools and school districts from across the country as we launch the Standard Response Protocol that is part of the work by the I Love U Guys Foundation.

This change will create a common language and approach to addressing any potential situation that may arise in the district as we continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of every student, staff member, and community member who enters our halls.
