 W
elcome Back!  Our theme for this year is “P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility in Daily Effort).”  Each month we send home the Home Connection for parents. Please take a few moments and read through the great reading suggestions this publication contains. Our Ludwig Newsletter will be sent home in October so I have included new information and reminders in this letter. (Our District 92 web sight is another great resource – www.d92.org)
I am sure you already know that September is a busy month. Getting back into a schedule is no easy task for any of us. Taking a few minutes each evening to go over your child’s papers and assignment book, along with listening to them describe their day goes a long way in creating a smooth beginning. Also, please be patient with the bus service. It will take at least a week for the drivers to become familiar with the bus routes. I suggest you keep track of the name of the bus your child rides.
Make sure you review the school handbook and technology contract with your child, and return the verification sheets attached to these documents as soon as possible. Our students will be taking the Terra Nova Tests on September 17-21 ( make-ups to follow the next week). We will also administer the state ISAT exams, as scheduled, on March 4-7, 2008.
We will continue our building-wide assignment book initiative with weekly raffles to encourage student use. To promote and enrich our writing skills, all students will be given a writing resource folder, as we have done in the past. This resource contains ideas to spark the writer in everyone. Please take a look at it.
All of us at Ludwig School are committed to providing your child with the best possible educational experience. We look forward to your involvement and participation in our programs this year.

What can you do to help your child do his/her best during testing & throughout the school year?

  1. Your child should attend school and be prompt.
  2. Your child should get a good night’s sleep.
  3. Your child should have a balanced breakfast each day.
  4. Remind your child to ask the teacher concerning any testing questions.
  5. Advise your child not to worry about the test - just do the best he/she can.
  6. Remind your child to have all needed supplies such as pencils, eraser, and calculator etc.
  7. Make education a priority by showing an interest in school activities, assignments and experiences.
