Reed School Students form a school peace sign as part of the
Matt Lamb – “Umbrellas for Peace” Project
District 92 welcomes artist Matt Lamb!

The “Umbrellas for Peace” project is a global art activity involving the painting and design of umbrellas by children and adults.  Over 650,000 children and adults in 18 countries have participated in the “Lamb Umbrellas for Peace” projects. This project has touched millions of lives.

In May, artist Matt Lamb visited District 92 schools to speak with the teachers about the “Lamb Umbrellas for Peace” project.  He returned to our schools on June 4 and 5 to facilitate the painting of student umbrellas.  Each child painted an umbrella with symbols of peace.  Students displayed their umbrellas in a school parade.

Matt Lamb was born in Chicago in 1932. He is a self-taught Irish American artist who has become an internationally known master of color, texture and poignant subject matter. He has two grandsons who attend District 92 schools.
